Modifying the Default Design
This section of the guide focuses on helping you understand how to modify the default design of your book in Pressbooks. The following subsections will guide you through the essential steps to modify the look and feel of your book. From selecting the overarching theme to making advanced customizations using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), these instructions will ensure that your book has a cohesive design across formats—web, PDF, EPUB, and MOBI.
Furthermore, if you plan to use HTML and CSS in your Concordia University Library Publishing Project, please contact us and inform us of your intention so that we can assess who we can support your plan with the intended changes/additions.
If you’re using CSS for advanced customizations, make sure you know exactly what you’re modifying and have a way to undo the changes if needed. Advanced features modelled in Concordia Library Pressbooks, such as custom textboxes, accordions, and the bottom navigation bar, may be readily feasible.
